SVU signed MOU with China

It was a memorable day for SVU when Dr.Lang Nanjan, President, Yunnan Academy of Forestry signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with S.V. University on December 12, 2005. This development has opened up a window of opportunity for SVU to strengthen its involvement with YAF, China. The MOU will be effective up to 5 years.

Initiation was taken by Prof.G.sudarsanam and convinced Yunnan Academy of Forestry(YAF), to actively involve in our future joint research programmes.Yunnan Academy of forestry has been engaged in the research in tree breeding, tree propagation and cultivation and in forest ecology for more than 50 years. Since 1980 the academy has been cooperating with more than 20 foreign countries and conducting research projects and exchanging visiting scientists.

Dr.Lang Nanjan, President, Yunnan Academy of Forestry, Kun Ming, China, also reaffirmed that it was an honor to sign the MOU with SVU and the development of this MOU will give big boost to study food and medicinal plants. This will enhance scientific spirit and temper in the promotion of Science and Technology in both the Institutions.

The signing of the MOU came at an opportune time. SVU has been, and continues to be, an active player enabling dialogues to promote cultivation of Medicinal plants at the national and regional levels. SVU can also assist field-level action research to support the development of appropriate to cultivate Medicinal plants, and finally by providing capacity building products and services, especially in China at the national level, local capacity can be enabled to support growth and development of Medicinal plants.

Taken all together, the MOU provides a firm foundation for greater collaboration between Department of Botany, SVU and Yunnan Academy of Forestry, Kunming China. .

This MoU will be Monitored and Coordinated by Dr. Zhao Yao , for YAF and Dr. G.Sudarsanam for SVU and serve as Chief advisors.
